Terms of Service
Last updated 17 October 2026
These terms apply to Explained, the desktop app (Mac and Windows) and service operated by [Legal name of the operator]. By creating an account or using the app you agree to them.
The service
Explained is a small independent project, built for fun. It transcribes calls and suggests answers using AI, and is meant only for taking notes and summaries of your own meetings and their recordings, reviewing practice interviews, and simulating real interviews so you can practise. It is not designed, offered or supported for any other use. Suggestions can be wrong or incomplete; you decide what to say and do, and you are responsible for it.
Your account
Keep your sign-in secure; you are responsible for activity on your account. New accounts include 3 free minutes to try the service.
Plans and payment
- Minute packs are paid once and do not expire.
- Unlimited renews every month until you cancel. Cancel any time from the app; it stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
- Payments are processed by Stripe, which acts as the merchant of record for your purchase and handles applicable taxes.
Refunds
All purchases are final. We do not offer refunds for minute packs or Unlimited, including for minutes you have not used or for the rest of a month you have paid for. Cancelling Unlimited stops the next renewal; it does not refund the current one.
Minutes are added to your account as soon as you pay. By buying, you ask for the service to start straight away and accept that you lose the 14-day right of withdrawal for digital services once it has. This does not affect rights that consumer law does not let you give up, for example if you were charged by mistake.
Acceptable use
- Use Explained only for the purposes above: meetings and their recordings, reviewing practice interviews, and interview practice.
- Follow the law where you and the people on your call are, including laws on recording conversations and consent.
- Respect the rules of any interview, exam or organisation you take part in. You are responsible for whether using Explained is allowed there.
- Do not reverse-engineer, resell, or interfere with the app or the service, or share your account.
Availability and changes
We work to keep Explained available but cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted. We may change or improve features, and will tell you about significant changes to these terms.
No warranty and no liability
Explained is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that it is accurate, reliable, uninterrupted or fit for a particular purpose.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no responsibility or liability for any damage or loss of any kind, whether direct, indirect, incidental or consequential, caused by or connected with the app, the website or the service. This includes, among other things, the outcome of any meeting, interview, exam or application; any decision made on its answers; any breach of rules, policies or laws by a user; any claim by people on your calls; and any loss of data, earnings or opportunities. You use Explained entirely at your own risk.
Where the law does not allow liability to be excluded entirely, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that the law does not allow to be limited.
Ending your account
You can stop using Explained and ask us to delete your account at any time by writing to [contact email].
Law
These terms are governed by Italian law, without affecting mandatory consumer protections where you live.
